Hand Art

Exhibition of gestures photographed by Frantisek Zvardon at the Lalique factory.

from 17 March to 8 April – free admission

Czech photographer Frantisek Zvardon has lived in Strasbourg for thirty years, travelling extensively in his work for magazines and publishers all over the world. He has won a number of international prizes and illustrated some thirty books, including Bâtisseurs de Cathédrale and L’Excellence en Alsace.

L’Art de la Main / Hand Art showcases the know-how of some eighty companies in the Alsace region. They all have in common their roots in tradition, zest for performance, sense of innovation and the drive to conquer foreign markets. The Lalique factory was a revelation for Frantisek Zvardon.

No newcomer to the world of industry, Zvardon presented photographs of the Trinec steelworks in the Czech Republic in an exhibition entitled Iron Heroes. His approach is to honour the guardians and heirs of exceptional skills, and those who are passing this know-how on to future generations. L’Art de la Main takes a new look at life in the Lalique factory; a reminder of the importance of gesture, Zvardon’s work highlights the play of matter and colour, light and transparency.
