L'Air du Temps perfume bottle

Creator: Marc Lalique
Date: 1951
Matérials: Crystal
Property of Lalique SA

This is no doubt one of the most widely recognised perfume bottles of all time, though there are in fact a number of different versions. The sculptor Jean Rebull produced a first version, in the shape of a sun, in 1948. The Lalique crystal version came three years later, a ribbed flacon with two doves, symbols of peace, on the stopper. A number of other designers have since created flacons for this iconic perfume, including Marie-Claude Lalique (1996) and Philippe Starck (2010).

By the way: Marc Lalique and Robert Ricci (Nina’s son) were childhood friends, so it was only natural that the two should choose to work together on the L’Air du Temps perfume bottle!
