2012: Suzanne Lalique-Haviland, the decor reinvented

Lalique, Haviland… Two prestigious names which stand out in the decorative arts; the first in the field of glass, the second in the field of porcelain. Suzanne combines these two prestigious family names: the daughter of René Lalique and married to Paul Burty Haviland, she was herself a designer, renowned in her time for her talent, and left her mark not only on the family companies but also on such famous institutions as the Sèvres factory and the Comédie-Française.

This exhibition pays homage to this discreet artist who worked with materials as varied as glass, porcelain and textiles, as well as designing theatre and opera costumes and stage sets. She drew a line, breathed new life into design and was inspired by her daily life.

Suzanne Lalique-Haviland, decoration reinvented has been recognised as being of national interest by the Ministry of Culture and Communication. This is the first exhibition in France to be dedicated to this exceptional designer; it demonstrates the diversity of her creation, in particular through the loan of exhibits from her family and the famous family names for which she worked.
