Created in 1908 and 1911
The bottle designed for L’effleurt marks René Lalique’s first venture into the world of perfume and the start of a flourishing period during which he designed some twenty or more perfume bottles for François Coty. The perfumer even commissioned René Lalique to contribute to the design of the Coty Building in New York, though later on a conflict put an end to the partnership between the two men.
For the prestigious store, René Lalique created wall panels featuring poppies and a monumental window spanning three floors made of white pressed glass. The window featured garlands of flowers in bud and full bloom, and brought light and a poetic touch to the building.
